I own a yellow backpack. It’s awesome. And yellow. I take it everywhere. Oh, and it’s definitely yellow!
It’s the kind of yellow that has a vintage vibe and reminds me of sunflowers and festivals and traveling to faraway places. Every time I use it, I feel like I’m going on an adventure. My yellow backpack equals exploring and the excitement that comes from the possibility of stepping into the unknown – even when I’m just going to the supermarket around the corner.
Semi-attached
My backpack goes everywhere I go. It’s semi-attached to my body whenever I leave the house. It’s not my fault. It’s the backpack’s fault; it’s just so great. It’s great for hiking. It’s great for commuting to work. It’s great for getting groceries. It’s the perfect carry-on size for flights and it can fit up to two weeks’ worth of clothing. ‘Nough said, right? Oh, and it’s yellow.
Cave of Wonders
So many things live in my backpack: pens, notebooks, tissues, Chapstick, band-aids, hand cream, hair ties, sanitizer, sunblock, my wallet, a water bottle, raincoat, laptop, all sorts of cables and chargers, my power bank, headphones, snacks, a book, another book…Ask for it, and my backpack has it!
It’s like a portable Cave of Wonders filled with all sorts of handy things, just in case I land myself in the middle of a spectacular quest. I’m always prepared and ready to kick some serious b*tt!
The Deets and the Story
What are the deets on this backpack, you ask? Well…my backpack was made by Millican, a company co-founded by a fellow Dutchie. I own their Smith the Roll Pack (15L), which is minimal and lightweight and slim, and not too big for the size of my body. I also strongly identified with the Millican story:
Inspired by the restless spirit of the open road, we create lifelong companions for the conscious traveler and deep thinker […] We started Millican to make others feel […] alive. To inspire them with tales from the trail, to search out the unknown, to open eyes and hearts and minds, to help people discover what they might at one point have lost in themselves – the maverick that resides deep inside all of us.
Isn’t that what we try to do as writers, too?
