THE ONE ABOUT JANUARY FAVORITES
Published on: February 09, 2024

Hello lovelies! The new year is in full swing and has already brought a lot of wonderful and exciting things! I was also able to enjoy some great books, TV shows, and music:

I Read…

RUTHLESS VOWS by Rebecca Ross! This is the second book (and eeeeepic conclusion) to the Letters of Enchantment duology. Like the first book (DIVINE RIVALS), the story is intensely romantic and beautifully written, thrusting readers into the enchanting world of Oath—where unruly magic, war, and sleeping gods roam free.

Roman and Iris became one of my favorites last year: their characters are so intricately, exquisitely, written—and very relatable. Reading the conclusion to their story was bittersweet and sooo wonderful.

I Watched…

FOOL ME ONCE on Netflix! Oh booooooy, did I binge this series! It’s twisty! It’s raw! It also has an old school BBC-esque feel, the acting is solid, and the humor is wry and wonderfully British.

Following the murder of her husband Joe Burkett (played by Richard Armitage!!), Maya Stern is given a nanny cam by a friend to watch over her daughter. However, after watching the camera footage, she sees Joe visiting their daughter. Meanwhile, her niece and nephew seek to find the truth about their mother’s murder and the possible connections between both cases. Yay!

Also: the ending will blow. Your. Mind.

Apparently, MISSING YOU and RUN AWAY are the next two Harlan Coben thrillers to get the Netflix treatment. Good news all around!

I Listened to…

On 16 January, my orchestra performed in one of the most beautiful and prestigious concert halls in the country—if not in the world: The Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Our concert was an homage to our planet and all proceedings were donated to Right to Play (a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering children and teens living in conflict areas). Playing in this hall, sitting in the same place that hosted great conductors (like Mahler, Haitink, and Bernstein) and orchestras (such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra), was a dream come true. I’ve been replaying the recordings—just to confirm that it truly wasn’t a dream😉
