August was a bit of a weirdo, this year: I thought I’d have endless amounts of time to do ALL THE THINGS (yes, I am a millennial) but I blinked, and the month was over (again: rude). The second season of MY LIFE WITH THE WALTER BOYS on Netflix! Yep, the teen drama based on Ali Novak’s bestselling Wattpad book has returned, y’all!
Even though its storytelling is a bit messy (character arcs, anyone?), this was still a smooth and easy watch. If you want to turn off your brain for a while and focus on a teenager’s impossible life decision of choosing between two crushingly handsome brothers: MY LIFE WITH THE WALTER BOYS does the job. This second season is a bit of a repeat of season 1, going around in circles when it comes to Jackie’s relationship with Alex and Cole (it even ends similarly), but hey: it was a fun ride!

Bianca Marais, USA TODAY bestselling author and award-winning creative writing instructor, interviews authors, agents, editors and just about anyone and everyone who’s involved in bringing a book to market. She’s joined by her cohosts, literary agents CeCe Lyra from Wendy Sherman Associates, and Carly Watters from P. S. Literary, who read and critique listeners’ query letters and opening pages in the popular Books with Hooks segment, and who also answer your burning questions in their Q&A segment. They also run the Shooting the Shit segment in which they discuss trending publishing topics as well as industry gossip.
Sooo, I can’t believe I only recently started listening to this podcast! Especially the Books with Hooks segments are AMAZING! CeCe and Carly don’t hold back on their feedback (because they truly want to help writers create a better query package) and their suggestions for improvement are incredibly insightful—I’ve been learning so much!
