Hello, my lovelies! Today is a milestone moment: this is my 100th writerly blog post! Yay!
When I started this blog on 1 January 2022, I fully intended to maintain it as best I could, but I never expected to still be going strong(ish) four years later, sharing my writing journey with The Internet.
Sooo, I thought it would be nice to take a moment to celebrate this (albeit minor) accomplishment, reflect on some highlights, and look to what’s next.
Celebrating the Journey
In maintaining this blog, I’ve ended up recording my writing journey, both on purpose and by accident. Looking back, it feels like a diary of what I was working on, and the books, shows, and ideas I was thinking about at the time. It reminds me how I got here, and honors the stories and voices that inspired me along the way.
A Cozy Cabin in the Woods
In an age of social media, clickbait, and 15-second TikTok videos, this blog has been my refuge. It’s become my virtual cozy cabin in the woods—a place where I can take my time to reflect, share my writerly shenanigans, and make sense of ALL THE THINGS at my own pace. Free from outside noise, urgency, and the pressure of likes and shares, it exists far from The Algorithm—and I LOVE IT.
Highlights from 100 Posts
Looking back over the posts I’ve written, a handful stand out. Incidentally (or maybe not *ahem*), each of them played a part in helping me understand my writing process and grow as a writer:
Also: I’m quite proud of the post about how my chronic illness has influenced my identity as a writer, since it helped me verbalize a pretty important revelation about my writing.
What’s Next?
I’d love to keep this blog going. For the past few years, I’ve tried to post every two weeks, and most of the time I’ve managed to stick to that rhythm. But life has gotten insanely busy lately, and it doesn’t look like things will calm down anytime soon. With a packed year ahead—and my WIP taking priority—I’m aiming to write at least one blog post per month.
I’ll probably let go of my monthly posts about favorite reads and series, but I’d still love to pop in a couple of times a year to gush about all the amazing stories I’ve devoured. I’m also planning a new series about who I am as a writer, why I write, and what helps me write best. Whoop whoop!
Anywhooo, here’s to the next 100 posts and the joy of sharing this journey together. Happy writing!
