Hello, lovelies! I hope you had a wonderful winter break! We’re already in the middle of January, so it’s about time I wrote down my goals for this year:
Revise Project Black Captain
I’m currently in the middle of a massive and messy structural revision, which I hope to complete in the first half of 2025 so I can send my manuscript to beta readers. After the summer, I hope to start another round of smaller revisions, based on my betas’ feedback.
Brainstorm Project Iron Mask
I have a shiny new idea! I’m cooking on a YA retelling of THE MAN IN THE IRON MASK (the movie version) and I’m suuuuper excited to dedicate some of my brain space to brainstorming this project! By the end of 2025, I would like to have a decent blurb and a chapter-by-chapter synopsis!
Keep Writing My Blog
I’ve been writing this blog fairly consistently since 2022. I try to publish a new post every two weeks. In 2025, I should be able to send my 100th post into the void! Might be a good reason to finally, FINALLY, work on my next goal…
…Send My First Newsletter
I flaked, last year. Again—because I also flaked the year before that. I got scared. Again. My self-doubt-demons won. AGAIN. I didn’t create my newsletter in 2023/2024. THIS YEAR, HOWEVER, I will truly honestly DO IT! I promise and pinky-swear and—for good measure—I’ll (mentally) sacrifice a fluffy baby goat to all the Gods that may be reading my blog. There WILL be a first newsletter in 2025!
Read 35 Books
In 2024, I read 35 books in all kinds of genres (though mostly YA fantasy and NA hockey romances). I enjoyed the freedom to read whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted, so I will once again pursue this as my reading goal for 2025!
Discworld Challenge
However, I would also like to read my Discworld books. I’ve been slowly expanding my Terry Pratchett special editions, but I haven’t taken the time to sit down and read them (boo). In 2025, I would like to change that. Of course, it’s not my intention to read the entire series in 2025 (a staggering 41 books, my friends!), but I would like to tackle at least one Discworld novel each month. Bring on the satire and ridiculousness—I AM READY!!
I’ve obsessively scoured the Internet, looking for the best order in which to read the books. There are sooo many recommendations about which books to read together, and where a good place to start might be. In the end, I got overwhelmed by the options and decided to just start reading in chronological order of publication. This means that I will tackle these 12 Discworld novels in 2025:
- The Colour of Magic
- The Light Fantastic
- Equal Rites
- Mort
- Sourcery
- Wyrd Sisters
- Pyramids
- Guards! Guards!
- Faust Eric
- Moving Pictures
- Reaper Man
- Witches Abroad
Wish me luck!
